Sealants & Fluoride
Sealants and fluoride treatments are two of the most effective tools we have for protecting children's teeth against cavities — and both are quick, painless, and highly effective. Together, they can dramatically reduce your child's lifetime dental treatment needs.
How It Works
Cleaning & Drying
The target teeth (typically back molars) are gently cleaned and dried to prepare for both treatments.
Sealant Application
A thin, liquid plastic sealant is painted into the grooves and pits of the molars — the areas where food and bacteria most often get trapped.
Curing
A special light hardens the sealant in seconds, creating a hard, protective shield over the tooth surface.
Fluoride Treatment
Professional fluoride is applied as a varnish or gel to all teeth, absorbed into the enamel to strengthen it against acid attacks.
Instructions
We advise your child to avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after fluoride to allow maximum absorption.

Benefits of Sealants & Fluoride
- Sealants reduce cavity risk in back teeth by up to 80%
- Fluoride strengthens enamel against acid and decay
- Completely painless and quick — no needles
- Highly effective for cavity-prone children
- Long-lasting protection (sealants last 5–10 years)
- Cost of prevention is far less than cost of treatment

Q.At what age should my child get sealants?
Sealants are typically applied when the first permanent molars emerge, around ages 6–7, and again when the second molars come in around ages 11–13.
Q.Are fluoride treatments safe?
Yes. The amount of fluoride used in a professional treatment is small and clinically proven safe. We monitor the appropriate dose for each child's age and risk level.
Q.Do sealants replace brushing and flossing?
No — sealants protect the grooves of back teeth but do not cover all tooth surfaces. Regular brushing, flossing, and check-ups remain essential.
Q.Can adults get sealants?
Yes. Adults who are cavity-prone and have deep grooves in their molars can also benefit from dental sealants.
